There’s no better way to close a festival than w

There’s no better way to close a festival than with one hell of a party and Staysman & Lazz delivered the goods. They are after all one of Norway’s most popular partybands and they proved their worth this evening. A couple of thousand people going bananas and singing along while the ground shook; i was working the pit and thinking “i’m to old for this!!” 😀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But for me this was more about the pictures. Or THE PICTURE to be honest. I kind of knew what was expecting me and armed with just one camera body - the amazing Sony a7r3 - i thought the 24-70mm GM would be a perfect fit. At least until i had a look at the stage. Several confetti-canons? And the fact that these guys are all about the party? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I quickly connected the epic 16-35mm GM instead and the idea was simple; i need that one picture that sums up the festival. That one picture where the technical is far less important than the atmosphere. That one picture which captured the artist, the atmosphere and the audience in one picture.

Well, i simply love it when a plan comes together and i am able to walk away with that one picture! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Everyone loves shooting the biggest band. Why wouldn’t we? The biggest stars on the biggest stages with the biggest productions. The downside? If you’re an active photographer there’s a good chance that you’ll get to shoot a band several times during one summer since every festival needs the biggest stars to draw a crowd and even though it’s alway fun, it can also be a little bit repetitive.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best part? This is what gives a festival the opportunity to hire smaller band themself believe in and that’s what happened this year on Spydeberg Rock Festival. Cause my first reaction when i heard they got Ghost Avenue was something like “holy fxxk!! finally!”. Cause you see; Ghost Avenue are one of Norway’s most exciting bands and many have already called them for the future of Norwegian rock’n roll. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So to make a long story short: The future is here now and it beeping rocks! They had only 30min on the stage, but they became my favorite act of the entire festival! Some bands plays rock while other has the genre running in their vanes and you can guess which category Ghost Avenue falls under 🙂

I had the honor of shooting TNT back in 2017 and what a show it was. Off, course to see them i had to be on the road for 26 hours straight, but hey; i got the pictures! But the stage was way to high and the pics - even though they did the trick - was nothing spectacular. Did i hear anyone talk about redemption?

When Spydeberg Rock Festival announced TNT as their headliner for 2019 i simply couldn’t believe it. TNT in little Spydeberg? A second chance to make pictures worth talking about? Another chance to experience these legends live? Yess please!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
New was their singer - Baol Bardot Bulsara (@baolbardot )- and to be honest? I think he’s a very different singer than Mr Tony Harnell, but i actually love them both. Mr Bulsara brought his own style to the vocal and it worked flawlessly. But the best part? He felt like a natural part of the band and i loved the chemistry between him and Mr Ronni LeTekrø ( @ronniletekroofficial ).

Oh shit.. not again… seriously; why does this keep on happening to me? You see, Rotlaus are one of Norway’s biggest bands and i have off course heard a couple of their songs. But i have never really listened to them. I kind of have this addiction to rock. Think everything from Pries to Dimmu and you’ll see why Rotlaus has never been a part of my playlists.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But that’s why i love shooting festivals. There’s always a surprise or two, and this year Rotlaus kind of blew me away. Their songs are down to earth and catchy as hell, but still; it’s more easy listening than my kind of rock.. So imagine my surprise when they turned out to be rockstars on stage and gave their own songs a whole new dimension that made for one heck of a summer-party! Guess what my neighbours are listening today 🙂

Staut are one of Norway’s most popular bands and probably one of Norway's most photographed livebands too. The reason is simple; they are simply amazing on stage and their songs makes the entire audience sing along to every single no matter if they are 18 or 80. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I on the other hand suddenly found myself in a situation where i knew that every other photographer would get the same pictures as myself.. as everyone always does.. Nothing wrong with that since you are destined to get great shots with this band. But i wanted that one picture that no other had.. that one picture that stood out as something you don’t see after every single Staut-concert.. Well, i think i got it 🙂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
